When You Pick Up Your New Puppy
Prepared by Kathy Stewart
If you are flying to pick up your puppy and the puppy will travel in the passenger
compartment under the seat in front of you then you will need a soft sided carrier
for the puppy. Brand names for these bags are Sherpa and Samsonite. Prices range from $40 - $70.
Dog crate or very small enclosure in which the pup will sleep and stay while he is alone
Hard fiberglass or plastic kennel - approximate size 32"l X 23"h 22"w

A metal grid floor to fit in crate is a good idea to keep the dog dry.
6 foot leather leads are necessary for obedience trials
10 - 15 foot retractible (FLEXI 2) leads are wonderful for leash breaking & walks
in the park
Collars should be soft, adjustable and flexible so that they will
not break hair (soft nylon is good). For instructions on how to make your own, easily
